Beneficiaries
For 2009, Taste of Asia will be contributing to the following charities:
International Humanity Foundation
International Humanity Foundation is a non-religious, non-political, non-profit volunteer organization providing the world's poor with basic humanitarian aid while preserving their cultures, traditions and beliefs.
Education is the cornerstone of IHF; half of our mission is to educate the poor, while the other half is to educate the world about the poor. We create lasting relationships that are a learning experience for both those we help and the volunteers who help them. We strive to provide information about global poverty with the goal of creating a society better prepared for effective problem solving.
IHF policies and programs are firmly rooted in a “pass it on” philosophy. By passing on the exchange of ideas and knowledge through direct communication with others, we encourage the development of thoughtful, informed leaders for tomorrow.

Lotus Outreach
Lotus Outreach is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in California, dedicated to ensuring the education, health and safety of vulnerable children.
Lotus Outreach was initially incorporated as a secular, non-profit organization in the United States to increase support for established educational programs operating in refugee communities in India. Since then, Lotus Outreach has expanded both the reach and scope of our work. While expanding access to education remains a top priority, they are also tackling grittier issues such as preventing the sexual exploitation of children and rehabilitating survivors of human trafficking. Their programs are made possible by generous supporters, dedicated volunteers, and by virtue of the talented partners they work with in the field.
What They Do
Lotus Outreach supports the development of effective grassroots projects in vulnerable communities. They aim to build the capacity and sustainability of their local project partners and aspire to raise awareness in our home countries of the problems presented by poverty throughout Asia. Their mission is pursued on several fronts:
- - promote and provide education for children previously denied this right due to extreme poverty or discrimination
- - provide basic healthcare where it’s needed most
- - provide trauma counseling, education and training to children and young women rescued from human trafficking and sexual slavery
- - advocate for social change through informational grass-roots programs
- - provide non-formal and alternative forms of education and basic job skills training
- - work to identify and prevent the causes of trafficking and sexual slavery through outreach work, public education campaigns and advocacy
